A thick haze sits atop the old railway
It’s September, but it’s not.
Ties, mint and forest green
done up for the first time
Tied through nervous fingers
The heat of the day lies just beyond
Collecting amongst the dark green crowns
The giant hogweed has been felled
And the plastic sign
That warned us to stay away
Flaps about, thorned in the bramble
